During November, WHMS Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) held a school-wide food drive to support the White Hall Food Pantry, and thanks to the amazing generosity of our students and staff, we collected 1,006 items for families in need across Jefferson County! To make things fun, WHMS hosted the Turkey King & Turkey Queen competition:
Turkey King: Khaiden Hayes
Turkey Queen: Rayden Cheek
Congratulations to both for going above and beyond!
Students also visited the food pantry to learn about its daily operations and helped clean, organize, and prepare bags for local families. We’re so proud of our FCCLA members and the entire WHMS family for making a difference. Students are already excited to volunteer again in the spring!

Fifth graders at Taylor Elementary played a lively game of “Eat or Be Eaten” to explore how matter moves through an ecosystem. Students learned what different consumers eat and used that knowledge to build their own food chains. A fun, hands-on way to bring science to life in Mrs. Rongey’s class!

Mrs. Hulse’s second graders at Moody turned into smart shoppers today! They each had a $25 budget to “buy” their Thanksgiving dinner and had to choose at least six items. It was so fun watching them stretch their dollars, compare prices, and plan out their meals. They took their shopping roles seriously and had a great time learning real-world math skills!

Gandy also celebrated the 67th day of school , 6-7 style! Students found 67 bulldogs hidden around the building to complete a number chart, enjoyed an extra “6 to 7” minutes of recess, read 67 words, raced through math activities to get to 67, and spotted all of their teachers wearing special 6-7 shirts. It was another 6-7 celebration… and no, we still don’t know what 6-7 really means, but the kids sure had fun anyway! To top it off, teachers were treated to a well-earned snack day after all the excitement.

Mrs. Alexander’s first graders celebrated the 67th day of school with a full day of fun. Students made festive hats and even challenged themselves to see how many words they could write in 67 seconds. And if you’re wondering what “67” really means… we don’t know either, but the kids loved every minute of it!

On Friday, district leaders, interventionists, and specialists met to look closely at student data. These conversations help us understand how students are doing and what support they may need to keep growing. By working together, we make sure everyone is on the same page and that each student’s needs are met. This behind-the-scenes work helps our teachers teach and our students learn at their best.

Pre-Educator student, Addison Prince, shared her passion for art and nature at the Generation Conservation Summit, sponsored by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission! In her first demo, she explored textures and techniques for drawing animals, featuring a Dwarf American Toad, a Deer, and an Armadillo. Her second demo focused on bird sketching, highlighting key features to notice for identification in field guides or online. Mrs. Sorey’s students at Moody jumped into a fun and engaging Curipod lesson today as they practiced the comprehension skills they’ve been learning in Benchmark. Students used a variety of strategies: drawing, visual supports, and instant feedback to check their understanding, revise their thinking, and build confidence. It was a great opportunity for students to strengthen key reading skills while also deepening their knowledge and thinking.
