Summer is a time for fun and relaxation, but we want to help keep students’ reading skills strong. One great way to prevent summer reading loss is to encourage children to read a little each day. Our local public library, along with the Jefferson County Main Library in Pine Bluff, has several fun summer activities planned. Families can sign up for the Beanstack Summer Reading Program through their local public library. Please see the attached pictures for all the details. Jefferson County Main Library’s Summer Reading Party will be held on June 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at MLK Park in Pine Bluff. Everyone is welcome! A QR code is included to register for Summer Reading through Beanstack. Registration is branch-specific for reading prizes, but the code will allow you to select your home branch when you sign up. Don’t wait—sign your kids up today!

Today, on our last day together, we celebrated Atlas testing scores and growth, honored two incredible teachers as they begin their retirement journey, and celebrated one very special birthday. Moments like these are a reminder that school is so much more than lessons and tests — it’s the people, the memories, the laughter, and the family we build along the way. Thank you, Mi Casita, for always welcoming our crazy crew. And to all the teachers: thank you for pouring your hearts into this year. Enjoy every moment of your well-deserved summer break. Until next time.

Today we had the honor of celebrating two very special ladies, Mrs. Betsy McCarty and Mrs. Jeannine Shirley, as they begin their retirement journeys. They both have dedicated more than 30 years each to educating, encouraging, and impacting the lives of countless students and staff members. Their love for teaching and commitment to our school community have left a lasting legacy that will not be forgotten. The first two pictures represent their time at Hardin. While we are excited for this new chapter in their lives, they will be greatly missed in our halls and classrooms. Please join us in wishing Mrs. McCarty and Mrs. Shirley a happy and well-deserved retirement!
