We are pleased to announce the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant was awarded to Gandy, Hardin, Moody, and Taylor Elementary Schools. The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program provides free fresh fruits and vegetables to students in participating elementary schools during the school day. Fruits and vegetables will be a combination of local produce and unique items that may be new to many students.
The program goal is to introduce school children to a variety of produce that they otherwise might not have the opportunity to sample. It helps create better school environments by providing healthier food choices, expanding the variety of fruits and vegetables children experience, and increasing children’s fruit and vegetable consumption.
This week, our students will receive a fruit cup with a variety of fresh fruit.
