White Hall School District Special Education Child Find
The White Hall School District is responsible for ensuring that all children and young adults who are possibly in need of Special Education and/or related services, within its jurisdiction, from birth to 21 are located and identified. The White Hall School District's Child Find Campaign informs parents of disabled children about available services and how to access those services. The district utilizes newspaper articles, brochures, flyers, posters and letters to inform its patrons of the Child Find process.
The White Hall School District, as mandated by IDEA-Amendment of 1997, The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act 105-17 enacted by the U.S. Congress, must provide a free appropriate education for all eligible children with disabilities who reside in the district's boundaries.
The White Hall School District must make available full services to all eligible children with disabilities who reside within the district. These services must be provided in the least restrictive setting with some services provided, at the district expense, through other agencies or specialists. The disabled individuals include those persons who have been diagnosed as having or suspected to have mental, physical, and/or emotional disabilities. Disabled pre-school children are those with developmental disabilities which adversely affect learning. These individuals will require special assistance to maximize their educational potential.
