Head Lice

Head lice can be a source of aggravation for a parent. Be assured that head lice are a social nuisance, not a communicable disease. Children will be examined if they exhibit signs or symptoms of head lice. Because school-wide screenings are not recommended we suggest you check your child on a regular basis.

If you find that your child has head lice, remember, treating the child's hair alone is not going to get rid of them. The home and car must be thoroughly vacuumed and treated as well. Bed linens towels and clothing must be washed in hot water and dried in a hot dryer. Stuffed animals should be tied securely in large trash bag for 1-2 weeks.
