Mrs. Dawn Sullivan

Welcome to the Title 1 Reading webpage! My name is Dawn Kenley Sullivan. This school year marks my 32nd year of teaching! I have been a classroom teacher for 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade. The majority of my 31 years of teaching have been spent as the 5th grade Gifted and Talented teacher at Watson Chapel School District on the Coleman Elementary campus. I joined the Gandy Family in August of 2014 as a literacy/writing teacher in the 5th grade. In August 2016, I became the Reading Specialist and Title 1 Reading Facilitator at Gandy Elementary. I have currently returned to school for training to be come a CALT, A Certified Academic Linguistic Therapist. With this 2 year training, I will gain the expertise in how to help dyslexic students as well as students who struggle in reading become better readers.

My goal is to provide a strong reading culture for students in hopes that they will become LIFE LONG READERS. My classroom is rich in print and LANGUAGE, there are tons of awesome books, vocabulary is always visible, and vivid color in the room invites students to feel at home.Any student at Gandy Elementary is more than welcome to browse through my selection of books!

When I am not at work, I love to spend time with my family. My husband and I have three children (Greg, Jordan Michelle, and Jordan Marie) and three grandchildren (Landree Kate, Broox, and Kendyll). I am an avid RedWolves fan (GO A-State!) and have been since my freshman year there in 1984. I love to read and go to the movie theater; my favorite reads are books about to be made into a movie. Thank you for visiting my webpage!
