  • Taylor Elementary School Parents and Students,

Welcome to the 2018-19 school year!  Our school is in Year 2 of implementing The Leader in Me program.  Our teaching staff received three days of training last summer and one day this summer.  During the first year of The Leader in Me program, students learned to:

    Habit 1: Be Proactive

Habit 2:  Begin With the End in Mind

Habit 3:  Put First Things First

    Habit 4:  Think Win-Win

Habit 5:  Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood

    Habit 6:  Synergize

    Habit 7:  Sharpen the Saw

This school year, students will learn to set personal and academic goals.  Teachers and staff will model this for students as we set personal goals as well as classroom and school goals.  These goals are called WIGS-Wildly Important Goals.

The Leader in Me program strives to help each child become the leader of their own lives.  Students will become leaders in the classrooms, in the school and at home.  "Leadership is communicating a person's worth and potential so clearly that they are inspired to see it in themselves."  Franklin Covey

We are so glad to have you at Taylor Elementary School.  Taylor is such a special place to attend school.  We have a strong teaching staff, great students and supportive parents.  The faculty and staff are very dedicated to your children.  Good communication is key when working together to provide the best education for your child.  Keep the line of communication open.  Don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher!  I encourage you to contact the teacher with concerns before contacting me.  I am always happy to help you with any issue, but the teacher should be the first contact.  Teachers are happy to e-mail or return phone calls on their planning period each day.

We have a very strong PTO at Taylor.  The PTO Board works hard to raise funds for multiple projects each school year.  Please share ideas with any board member concerning fund raisers, projects or your desire to help with any projects.  We need hard-working and willing parents to help us reach our goals.

We invite you to volunteer at school.  We have many opportunites to volunteer at Taylor.  Mentoring Moms, WATCH DOG dads, copying and laminating just to name a few.  Call the office if you have questions for how you can sign up.  We would love to have you.

Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to work with your child.   Please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me anytime you have questions or concerns.
