WHITE HALL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be a White Hall High School senior planning to continue his/her education at an institution of higher learning, beginning within the year the scholarship is awarded
- Must rank in the upper one-half of his/her class
- Must precisely submit all required elements on the application form submitted to the school by the Chamber. Failure to follow instructions on the application will result in disqualification. If all applicants fail to follow instructions precisely, those with the minimal number of infractions will be considered for the award.
- Award winners will be selected by the Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Committee, determined by the current Board of Directors.
- Applications will be received by the Chamber Secretary and copies will be made with names blocked out to present to the Committee, in order to select based on the application only, and not by knowing the applicant. Applications will be presented to the Committee with an assigned numbers instead of names.
- The Committee will select and score based on the following:
- Scholarship
- Moral Character
- Leadership
- Service
- Applications must be received no later than the appointed deadline determined by the Chamber Board of Directors. Deadline is April 16, 2021.
- Chamber Scholarship Committee will use a score sheet provided by the Board of Directors to tally and determine the winner(s).
- The Scholarship Committee will meet after individually reviewing and scoring the applications to discuss their scores. In the event of a tie, the Committee will discuss together and determine their choice.
- The top scores will be presented to the Secretary, who will determine the name(s) of the student(s) to be awarded, and will notify the school.
- The number of scholarships and the amounts to be awarded will be determined by the current Board of Directors before the application is presented to the school.
