Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Carol Taylor
Hi! My name is Carol Lybrand Taylor. This is my 20th year of teaching. Seventeen of those years, have been right here at Taylor Elementary. I was fortunate to attend Taylor K-6, and was inspired by several teachers to become a teacher myself. I'm the 3rd generation of both White Hall graduates and educators. So, I guess you could say "it's in my blood", and I'm full of Bulldog Pride!
I just recently completed and passed requirements for National Board Certification for a second term of 10 years! This process was very rigorous, but also very rewarding both personally and professionally.
I teach 3rd grade content areas of Reading and Social Studies. By using novels, I incorporate Social Studies topics into the Reading whenever possible. Also incorporated into our units of study is Project-Based Learning. Throughout the year, students have projects that will be completed at home, that encourage the involvement of family members. They also have the opportunity to work in groups on in-class projects as well. This approach allows the students to have a multi-dimensional learning experience.
I find it necessary to acquire lots of "on-the-job training" by traveling the world and bringing back parts of it to share and incorporate into our lessons. I have three teenagers, who are all very active. When I'm not attending their activities and cheering them on, I like to read, hike, camp, and take photographs. I also enjoy scrapbooking.
