      Welcome to Kindergarten!

I look forward to a new and exciting year, full of learning and making new friends.

Every child has been asked to purchase a red folder, from the office, for class.  This folder will be the teacher and parents’ way of communicating on a daily basis.  I will send home a daily behavioral report in the folder each night.  Parents are asked to sign this and return it in the red folder each day.  I check red folders first thing each morning; I ask that lunch money be placed in an envelope or sandwich bag and sent in the red folder.  Any notes that you have for me should be sent in the red folder, as well.  I place completed papers in the folder for you to go over with your child, as you take them out each night.  If homework is assigned, you will find it in the red folder.  I will mark  all homework, as “homework”.

Each child is responsible for their own snacks.  If you would like to send a week’s worth at a time, that will be fine, but no more than that please!  Our space is limited.  Snacks are eaten first thing in the morning, so if your child does not eat much breakfast, they will be given some time to eat in the morning.  Examples of good snacks: pudding cups (with spoons), yogurt, crackers, Little Debbie Cakes, etc.... Please do not send drinks, we use the water fountain outside the door.  Please do not send snacks to school in lunch boxes, this has been a problem when I do lunch count.  Students get confused and say that they brought their lunch, and at lunch time I notice a box full of snacks.  ONLY SEND LUNCHES IN LUNCH BOXES!

I know silly bands are popular right now, but please do not send your child to school with an arm full of bands, that can be a distraction.

You may also want to send a small, small blanket or towel for rest time.

Our class rules:

1.       Sit on your bottom

2.       Be quiet

3.       Use good manners

4.       Walk in school

5.       No tattling

6.       Mind all teachers

Consequences:

1.       Warning

2.       Missing playtime

3.       Talk to parents (either a note on behavior slip or phone call)

4.       Go to office

With your help and cooperation, I will do the best that I can to make sure your child succeeds.   I look forward to a great 2011/2012 school year.

Thanks,

 Kim Bulloch
